Itanagar, Nov 28 (UNI) Loiliang village, located in the vicinity of Tezu Township in Arunachal's Lohit district, has much to cheer about as a host of dignitaries, including Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, along with Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh and Finance Minister Kalikho Pul, landed at the village.
The dignitaries spent an hour to visit a typical Mishmi house rubbing shoulders with the villagers and interacted with the local people to get an insight into the Mishmi way of living yesterday, official sources here today said.
Dr Ansari did not hesitate to use Mishmi traditional artefacts like Doong, Garah, Tiu, Tahumly and Siabre.
The Vice-President also shared a few moments to take local rice beer, sweet potato and oranges amid joy and delight. He was briefed on Mishmi tradition, culture and home keeping in maintaining traditional joint family system.
''It is a rare occasion, my house blessed and villagers as a whole are happy and fortunate,'' said Sinaso Kri, owner of the 60-feet long house with six rooms to accommodate all members in the joint family.
The family, as a gesture, presented local dao, Mishmi coat and packet oranges in local baskets as a token of love and remembrance for their visit. The wives of the Vice-President and Governor spared much of their valuable time to share their feelings with the womenfolk of the village, the sources informed.
Later, Dr Ansari took off to Kibithu, the last Indian village at Anjaw district bordering China and returned to the state capital before leaving for New Delhi, winding his three-day maiden visit to the state, the sources added.
