SC asks Pradip Todi, Anil Sarogi to surrender on Dec 8
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed Pradip Todi and Anil Sarogi, brother and brother-in-law respectively of Kolkata-based businessman Ashok Todi to surrender before the judicial magistrate in Kolkata on December 8 for their involvement in Rizwanur Rahman death case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan stayed till December 8 the operation of arrest warrant issued against them by the Calcutta High Court.
Senior counsel Harish Salve appearing for the petitioners today contended before the court that since the trial court has already been restrained by this court from proceeding further in the case, the arrest warrant should be cancelled.
The apex court, however, did not cancel the warrant, but directed the trial court to dispose of the bail applications of the petitioners on December 8 itself.
The petitioners are facing allegations of abetting the suicide committed by Rizwanur as the family was opposed to the marriage of Priyanka Todi, daughter of Asok Todi, to Rizwanur Rahman.
