Mah: Pune blood banks to help Mumbai in crisis

Pune, Nov 28: Blood banks in the city are all set to meet any emergency demand from the State Blood Tranfusion Cell (SBTC) in Mumbai, in the wake of terror attacks on the financial capital on Wednesday.

Rising to the crisis, many organisations, including political parties, had organised blood donation camps across the city.

Around 50 students of Adam Smith Institute of Management donated blood with technical assistance from Pune Serum Institute, while many volunteers were approaching blood banks in various hospital including, Sassoon, Jankalyan, Ruby Hall Clincic, KEM and Deenanath Hospital.

''Vounteers want to donate blood, but there is no demand placed on us yet,'' medical officer of Jankalyan Blood Bank Dr Ramesh Kamble said, while talking to UNI here today.

While Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena had organised blood donation camps, BJP city unit corporators and other workers participated in the drive.
