Panaji, Nov 28 (UNI) Tennis ace Leander Paes today stressed on the upgradation of the tennis infrastructure in Goa in the next five years to train the budding players for future.
Paes, who has been nominated as the president of the Goa Lawn Tennis Association, speaking after being felicitated jointly by Panajim Gymkhana and state Tennis Association at Dayanand Bandodkar Tennis court, said he had already given a proposal to the state Government for improvisation tennis infrastructure ahead of the National Games 2011, proposed to be held in Goa.
Replying to a query, he said, ''If offered to be brand ambassador of the National Games, I will happily accept it.'' Paes also praised Indian veteran tennis star Ramesh Krishanan, one of the the greatest player of the country.
Earlier, he interacted with budding tennis players and gave them basic ideas on physical and mental fitness. Players in the age group of 12 to 14 years should look at the competition level but concentrate on the game, he said.
