London, Nov 28 : Sports giant Nike is under attack for its new range of football boots - because they smell like 'cat pee'.
The firm's Mercurial and Total 90 footwear have been giving off the stinky smell.
The experts believe that stink is caused by a lining that lets air in but does not let it back out.
The setback came after the people wearing the shoes were accused of bad personal hygiene.
Nike said anyone affected by the rogue batch could return them for a refund or replace them regardless of whether they have a receipt.
Dan Rawlinson, 34, of north London, said it smelled like "20 cats had been to the loo".
"I only wore them once and they stunk the whole flat out. It was disgusting," the Daily Star quoted him, as saying.
However, Nike said the problem affected a "small number" of boots.
"We are taking this matter very seriously," said the spokesman.
