Man held with counterfeit notes
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Nov 28 (UNI) A youth, resident of West Bengal's Malda district, was arrested and eight counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination seized from him at Bahadurpur village in this district's Kaliyachak area this morning, police said.
Medical shopkeeper Prashant Sahu alerted police when Rafiq Sheikh (26) arrived at his shop to purchase some medicines and gave a Rs 1,000 note in return.
Suspecting on the appearance of the note and the customer, Mr Sahu informed the police, which seized eight notes of Rs 1000 denomination from the accused.
Besides, police seized Rs 1,500 from him which he obtained when he purchased some material by providing fake notes.
Rafiq revealed that he gave Rs 5,000 to get fake Rs 10,000 from Malda-resident and animal-trader Muklesh. He also confessed that he kept on circulating fake notes in Chhattisgarh.
The interrogation was in progress, police added.
