Kamte spoke to his wife, father before operation
Pune, Nov 27 (UNI) Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte, who died while fighting with terrorists in Mumbai yesterday night, last spoke to his wife Vinita and father Marutirao Kamte before leaving for the operation.
''You take care, put on the safety gear,'' advised his father, a retired Colonel.
Kamte is survived by his wife, two sons (Rahul and Arjun) and parents. The family stays in a bungalaw at Rakshaknagar. Vinita and her sister Vandana Chavan, who is a former city mayor, brought his body at 1330 hrs to Pune.
Family sources said Kamte's mother was away in Delhi, while his sister Sharmila is in Dubai. But, they arrived here today before the credmation.
A large number of people, including senior police officals, visited the brave officer's residence to pay their condolences.
Kamte's batch mate Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Singh told UNI that he was one of the finest officers. He trained as a commando at the Defence Services Staff College at Wellington in Tamil Nadu.
''He was one of the best officers trained as a commando,'' he added.
