CPI, CPI(M) to hold statewide protest demos on December 2
Chennai, Nov 28 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and CPI will organise protest demonstrations in Tamil Nadu on December 2, demanding that the state government take up on war footing, relief operations in the areas severely hit by torrential rains.
In a joint statement here today, CPI(M) state unit secretary N Varadarajan and CPI state unit secretary D Pandian said the Left parties the protest demonstrations were also to demand that the Centre must bring down the prices of petroleum products following crash in the prices of crude in the international market.
Mr Varadarajan and Mr Pandian said as heavy rains lashed the state, causing extensive damage to crops and throwing normal life out of gear in several parts, the two Left parties decided to raise the two demand of reduction in petrol prices and undertaking relief measures.
