Bush sends FBI bomb team to Mumbai

Washington, Nov 28: US President George W Bush phoned Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from Camp David on Thursday, Nov 27 and offered his country's support in investigations connected with the serial terror attacks in southern Mumbai that left 125 dead and 327 injured.

According to reports, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) team consisting of bomb and forensic experts, has been sent from Los Angeles to help in the investigation. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has briefed President-elect Barack Obama on the situation in Mumbai, even as national security and intelligence chiefs gathered at the White House to discuss the prevailing situation in India.

Reports said that Obama has received an intelligence briefing on the terror attacks from the State Department Operations Center and the National Counter Terrorism Center.

Aides to Obama said that he is monitoring the situation closely.

Israel, which has 15 of its citizens trapped or injured in Mumbai, has also decided to send a team of paramedics, medics and other professionals to assist in rescue efforts.

The team will help to treat casualties and in locating missing persons. Agency reports from Tel Aviv said that a team of reservists is also being kept on stand by.

Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livniboth have been briefed by Indian National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on the latest situation.
