London, November 28 : Lynne Spears has revealed that she spotted signs of Britney's public breakdown as early as four years ago.
The mother of the pop singer, whose memoir 'Through The Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World' went on to become New York Times Bestseller, confessed it was heart-wrecking to watch her girl's infamous collapse.
The author, while speaking on GMTV, said it was when Britney had married 55-hour former hubby and childhood pal Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, that she was instinctive of things going seriously wrong.
Looking back on incidents such as the singer shaving her head, her divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline, the subsequent loss of custody of her kids, Lynne revealed the rough patch that had hit their lives.
"I think there comes a time in a young adult's life when they want to live their own life. Similar to a child that goes to college and they don't really come home a lot," the Daily Star quoted her as saying.
Britney, who is due to release her new album on December 2, her 27th birthday, has recently been honoured with Germany's Bambi award for a stunning comeback.
