Udhampur, Nov 28 (UNI) Coming to the rescue of the UPA government after Mumbai attacks, Congress youth icon and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi today came down heavily on BJP and said the saffron party had not only made futile claims on terrorism but also failed to develop states under its regime.
Mr Gandhi, who was addressing an election rally here today, said terrorist acts are attempts to divide the denizens of the country.
''But we will defeat them in their motive by staying united,'' the Congress leader said.

In a scathing attack on the BJP, Mr Gandhi said, ''They have failed to bring about development in the states, where they are ruling.'' ''The BJP always tried to get in the way of whenever we stepped forward on development front,'' he said, referring the Indo-US Nuke deal.
The Congress leader, who was on his maiden visit to state for canvassing, stated Congress as the only political party which could bring both peace and developmemt.
Expressing his gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving chance to the Congress to form coalition in last Assembly election, Mr Gandhi appealed them to extend full support to his party in ongoing seven-phased polls.
