Amritsar, Nov 29 (UNI) Condemning the terrorist strikes in Mumbai, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh today called upon the government to review the security of important shrines of all religions in the country.
''The security arrangements around important shrines in the country should be reviewed so as to avoid incidents like the terrorist strikes in Mumbai'', Mr Singh said while talking to UNI here this evening.
Terrorists believe in no religion and have no respect for human lives and would not hesitate to strike even in relgious places, he added. The Jathedar said even the security around the Golden Temple needs to be reviewed as around one lakh pilgrims and tourists come to this important shrine everyday.
Pointing out that the security in the vicinity of the Golden Temple was the duty of the government, Mr Singh pointed out that the metal detectors installed outside the shrine were not even in working order.
The Jathedar along with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar condoled the death of innocent civilians and security force personnel in the Mumbai attacks.
