Lucknow, Nov 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar, Chief Minister Mayawati, besides various prominent politicians expressed profound sorrow over the demise of former prime minister and ex-state CM Vishwanath Pratap Singh today.
In a note, Mr Rajeswar recalled the valuable contributions of Mr Singh and said he brought a change in the political scenario of the country.
Manwhile, Ms Mayawati in her condolence message said the leader's death was a great loss to the country and the state would mourn his demise for three days. No state functions would be held for the next three days, while the flags would remain half mast in his rememberance.
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav, Congress State Chief Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, BJP leaders Ramapati Ram Tripathi and Lalji Tandon, CPI leader Ashok Mishra and RLD state unit president Ram Asrey Verma have also condoled the death of the former PM, who heralded a new era in social eguality by implementing the recommendations of the Mandal Commission.
