Four killed, 12 injured in Jammu road accidents

Jammu, Nov 27 (UNI) Four people were killed and 12 injured in the last 24 hours in different road accidents in the Jammu region, police reports said here today.

A youth was knocked by a speedy vehicle at the Railway track near Channi Himmat on the city outskirts, killing him on the spot.

''The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Yadav (20), a resident of Jaldwa Ahmed Garh (UP). The body has been shifted to the hospital for legal formalities,'' police said.

In another incident, a pedestrian, identified as Rakesh Khajuria, a resident of Barwal, Kathua, died on the spot when a vehicle hit him at Barwal Morh, on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.

In yet another road accident, one person was killed, when an autorickshaw, in which he was travelling, skidded off the road and rolled down at Rua Barmeen late last night in Udhampur district.

The deceased has been identified as Yog Raj, a resident of Satyalta in Tehsil Ram Nagar.

One Ramesh Lal, resident of Arnia in R S Pura Sector, who was admitted in the Government Medical College Hospital, after being injured in an accident on November 1, succumbed to his injuries last night, police said.

At least 12 people have sustained injuries in different road accidents in the Jammu region and have been hospitalised for treatment.
