Cong complains against BJP, Akali Dal for code violation
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The Delhi Congress has complained to the Election Commission (EC) against the BJP and Akali Dal for violation of the model code of conduct during campaigning for the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
In a statement here, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal said the party has complained to the EC against BJP candidates supported by the Akali Dal in Jangpura, Rajouri Garden, Shahdara and Adarsh Nagar Assembly seats for the violation of the model code of conduct.
Mr Agarwal said it was highly objectionable for the Punjab government to send its Ministers and the state police in Delhi to create panic in the four Assembly constituencies.
He said it was surprising that there was no mention of the Punjab Ministers in the list of 40 speakers send by the BJP to the EC for campaigning in Delhi.
Alleging that the Punjab Ministers were campaigning in the four constituencies and creating fear and panic among the people there, Mr Agarwal said it was a blatant violation of the election code of conduct and sought action against the offenders.
Charging that three days ago, a huge quantity of liquor bottles were recovered from supporters of BJP candidate from Jangpura, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, for which an FIR had also been lodged, he requested the EC to take action against the BJP and the Akali Dal for violating the election code of conduct to ensure peaceful polling on November 29.
