Bhubaneswar, Nov 26 (UNI) The construction work of the proposed Titanium plant at Chamakhandi Gram Panchayat in Chhatrapur block of the Ganjam district is scheduled to start in May next year.
Orissa Industry Minister B B Harichandan told this in the House while replying to a question of Nagi Reddy Narayan Reddy(CPI).
Mr Harichandan said while the construction of the Titanium slag plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2010, the construction of Titanium Dioxide would be over by June 2011 and Titanium Sponge in June 2012.
The plant would create employment opportunity for as many as 1200 people, including 350 skilled workers and 600 unskilled workers.
The Minister said the recruitment process would start from April next year.
To a question of Mr Ananta Sethi (Cong), the Minister said M/s Oceanic Shipyard Ltd had proposed to set up a ship building yard at Dhamra in Bhadrak district at Chardia near Chandbali.
A proposal to acquire 1052.58 acres of land for the plant was submitted to the Bhadrak District Collector. The land included 112.22 acres of government land and 939.36 acres of private land.
But so far no land had been acquired for the purpose, the Minister said.
