Star Wars light sabre, Indiana Jones hat up for grabs at Hollywood auction
London, November 26 : The light sabre used in 'Star Wars' and the signature hat worn by Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones' will feature amongst the 500 Hollywood props set to go under the hammer in the US.
While Luke Skywalker's light sabre is expected to fetch up to 120,000 pounds at the massive sale, the 'Fedora' hat, which bears the initials 'IJ' printed inside the band, could sell for 40,000 pounds.
Amongst the lot's most prized possession is a flying saucer from the 1956 classic sci-fi hit 'Forbidden Planet' starring comedian Leslie Nielsen, which could cost a fan 80,000 pounds, reports the Telegraph.
A first British edition of 'You Only Live Twice' written by Ian Fleming, the creator of the James Bond character, bearing the inscription "To the real James Bond from the thief of his identity" is also on offer.
The sale at the 'The Profiles in History' auction, which takes place on December 11, will also feature original puppets from the hit 'Gremlins' flicks, along with 1954 first printed editions of the JRR Tolkien 'Lord of the Rings' books, signed by the author.
President Joseph Maddelena said: "This sale features over 500 unique pieces of Hollywood history, from the silent era to modern sci-fi classics and everything in between.
"This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire some of the most important visual effects pieces ever created for modern cinema."
