Shiv sena chief calls for Bandh on Dec 1 in support of Sadhvi
Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has come out openly in support of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, accused in the September 29 Malegaon blast, and called for a Maharashtra Bandh on December 1.
In a statement issued here today, the Party supremo alleged that Congress is going ahead with its anti-Hindu policies and damaging the image of majority community as well as the military.
He said the reports of torture and harassment of the Sadhvi and Lt Col Prasad Purohit, also accused in the case, are harrowing and alleged that congress government in the state and the Centre was doing this just for the sake of 'vote bank' politics.
In his statement, he also cited the issue of delay in hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
In order to lodge a strong protest against all these incidents, the Party will organise the Bandh on December 1, Mr Thackeray said in his statement.
