Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Opposition AIADMK legislator and popular stage and film actor S Ve Shekhar today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi, triggering speculations in political circles that he would change sides, having been sidelined by the AIADMK.
However, when contacted by UNI, Mr Shekhar, refused to attach any political significance to the meeting, saying, he met the Chief Minister at the latter's residence only to invite him for an international film festival.
'' The Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) is planning to hold the sixth international film festival here from December 17 to 26'', he added.
He said he was accompanied by office bearers of the Foundation to invite Mr Karunanidhi to inaugurate the festival.
He said he also requested the Chief Minister to provide financial support for the foundation on the lines of Karnataka and Kerala governments, which had offered Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 30 lakhs respectively.
The festival would be of great help to Visual Communication students and the film industry, he said.
Asked whether he discussed politics with Mr karunanidhi, Mr Shekhar said ''that was part of an in-camera discussion during the meeting''.
