Punjab's batsmen thrash Haryana bowlers

By Staff

Patiala, Nov 26 (UNI) Punjab flogged the fragile Haryana bowling attack to pile up 328 for five in 98 overs on the opening day of the three-day Inter-State Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16) here at the Dhruve Pandove Stadium today.

Earlier, Punjab won the toss and bhose to bat first scoring freely and briskly which the Haryana bowlers watched haplessly.

Mohit Handa scored a fine century (121), hitting 13 fours, and is still unbeaten. He faced 205 balls. Giving him company was Gauravpreet Singh, who was 44 not out.

Ankit Pursharthi was unlucky to miss a ton. He scored 94, sending the ball to the fence 11 times. Manan Vohra scored 27.

For Haryana, Mohit Maan captured two wickets, conceding 69 runs and Roshan Saini took two for 79. With the pitch giving little assistance to the bowlers, Punjab was in a good position to score a mammoth total when the play resumes tomorrow.
