Chandigarh, Nov 26 (UNI) Punjab will be the 'host state' for the Agro Tech 2008 which will be inagurated by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar at the Parade Ground here on November 28.
The 4-day Agro Tech will showcase the latest in agricultural technology, products and allied services.
The focus of the Punjab Government has been to constantly help the hard-working Punjab farmer to increase yields from his land and become more prosperous. Hence, Punjab has become the 'host state' of Agro Tech 2008 and farmers from all over the state should visit the fair to see and take advantage of the latest farming techniques.
It is the Punjabi farmer who will benefit the most from Agro Tech because of his enterprising spirit and his willingness to try new technologies. The states farmers were the first to translate agricultural technology into the Green Revolution, recording the highest growth in food production.
The White Revolution made it the state with the highest per capita availability of milk. The hardwork put in by the Punjab farmer can also be see from the fact that the total geographical area of the state was 50.36 lakh hectares, out of which 42.24 lakh hectares was under cultivation.
