Pandit Jasraj to hold musical tribute to father, brother
Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) ''Sangeet'' Martand Pandit Jasraj, doyen of Hindustani classical music, will hold a ''Samaroh''(musical tribute) in memory of his father and brother here from November 27 to 30.
Talented classical musicians, including Sabir Khan (Sarangi), V Sudha Ragunathan (Carnatic vocal), Niladri Kumar (Sitar) and Sanjeev Abhayankar (vocal), would perform in the festival in memory of Pandit Motiram and Pandit Maniram.
Pandit Motiram was given the honour of state musician of Hyderabad in 1934.
Having ''inseparable ties'' with this culturally-vibrant city, the Music maestro told reporters that he cherished conferment of the title ''Son of Hyderabad'' by legendary singer Bharat Ratna M S Subbalakshmi.
''Indeed, I truly consider myself son of Hyderabad,'' he said, turning nostalgic.
Going down the memory lane, he recalled that it was here he ate Hyderabadi Laddus, played 'Kabbadi' with his friends and learnt music.
He opined that youngsters should be persuaded by their parents to attend Indian classical concerts to realise their rich cultural heritage.
''Only when they are exposed to our traditional music, they will realise the importance of it,'' he added.
