Orissa Assembly pays rich tribute to its departed leaders

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26 (UNI) Cutting across party lines, members of Orissa Assembly today expressed their deep sorrow over the demise of three of its former members.

Participating in the obituary reference, moved by Leader of the House Naveen Patnaik, the members recalled the rich contributions made by former Gunupur MLA Dumba Sabar, former Rajgangpur MLA and Sundergarha Lok Sabha member Christopher Ekka, and former Sonepur MLA Kundur Kusal, who died recently, and paid their glowing tributes to the departed souls.

While Sabar represented the Gunupur Assembly constituency in 1952, Ekka was elected from Rajgangpur Assembly constituency in 1974 and Sundergarha Lok Sabha seat in 1980. Kushal represented the Sonepur Assembly constituency thrice in 1990, 1995 and 2000.

The members described the death of the former leaders as an irreparable loss to the state and conveyed their grief to the bereaved families.

The House also condoled the deaths of Saiba Baske (Lance Naik) and Late Mr Kishore Dung Dung (Naik), both of Army, Late Mr Dibakar Mohapatra (Ex-Deputy Comandant), P C Sethi (Cons), Birabant Mohanta (Cons), Ramesh Chandra Patra (Cons), Shantanu Kumar Dhal(Cons), all of CRPF, and Bibhudenbdra Biswal and K Ananda Patnaik of Orissa State Armed Police.

The House observed one minute silence in memory of the departed souls.

Among others, Leader of Opposition J B Patnaik, BJP Legislature party leader B B Harichandan, Mr Bimal Lochan Das(JMM), Mr Arun Dey (NCP), Mr N Narayan Reddy (CPI) particpated in the discussion.
