K'taka thrash Baroda by 10 wkts, takes bonus point

Bangalore, Nov 26 (UNI) Karnataka brightened their chances of making it to the next stage by trouncing Baroda by ten wickets on the final day of the Elite group 'B' Ranji Trophy cricket championship superleague match here today.

Needing just 60 runs for an outright win, after dismissing Baroda for 285 in their second innings, Karnataka openers Pawan K B and Robin Uthappa (44 not out) scored the required runs in just 6.2 overs.

In their first innings Karnataka had made 395, while Baroda were skittled out for 169 runs.

Earlier, resuming at 204 for four, Baroda were bundled out for the addition of just 81 runs with skipper Connor Williams cracking a valiant 137 to stage a lone fight.

Karnataka's veteran left arm spinner Sunil Joshi returned with a rich haul of six for 48 while medium pacer R Vinaya Kumar took two for 63.

Karnataka garnered the maximum six points, including one bonus point, from the match to take their tally to 13 from four matches. Baroda's tally remained at two points from three matches.

Karnataka will play Uttar Pradesh in their next match in the city from December 12.
