India to take part in World Fitness Championship

By Staff

Indore, Nov 16 (UNI) City-based Syed Alam has been appointed trainer for the four-member Indian team that will take part in the World Fitness Championship to be held in Russian capital Moscow from December 2-7.

The championship is organised under the auspices of the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF).

''India is participating for the first time in this championship.

Four Maharashtra-based players had been selected in the team,'' Mr Alam told UNI here, before leaving for Moscow.

Mr Alam, who is working as sports faculty at a school here and has undertaken training in Thailand, said, in India, Aerobics was looked upon as good for maintaining fitness. However, it had great potential for being developed into a sport.
