Haryana police books two for insulting National Flag

Ambala, Nov 26 (UNI) The Haryana police has registered a case against two persons including a chicken shop owner for insulting the National Flag and National Anthem.

Both the persons were booked under Section 2 Prevention of Insult to National Honour, police officials here today confirmed.

The two were found guilty of serving cooked chicken in paper plates with photo prints of the National Flag and National Anthem.

The police took action when a customer who visited the chicken shop was served chicken in a paper plate bearing a photo print of the National Flag and the National Anthem. The customer took the paper plate to the police and lodged a complaint.

The chicken shop owner, Gurdev Singh told the police that he had purchased the paper plates from a dealer, V P Behal, who too has been booked. The dealer disclosed that the paper plates were purchased by him from a Delhi based manufacturer.

Further inquries by the police revealed that the paper plates were made in Delhi from text books of the Uttranchal Sarv Siksha Abhiyan. These books were sold in bulk as scrap and were used to manufacture paper plates.

The police has seized the entire paper plate stock and further inquiries are being made to detect other shopkeepers who may have purchased these paper plates.
