Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today directed his ministerial colleagues, district collectors and elected representatives to visit the rain-hit areas in the state and oversee relief operations.
In a statement here, he said the torrential rains in the state in the last couple of days had hit several districts and thousands of affected people had been accomodated in schools.
The district administration has been asked to provide them food and other facilities, he said.
Ministers in the respective districts, MPs and Legislators and district collectors have been asked to immediately take up relief operations in their areas, the Chief Minister added.
He said the state cabinet, which is scheduled to meet here tomorrow would discuss the issue and announce assistance to the affected people.
