Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs today seized 204 assorted gold chains worth Rs 10.76 lakh in the international market from an Indian national at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport here.
Additional Commissioner of Customs (AIU) B S Nunwal said Mohammed Saheb Siddique, having Indian passport, landed at the airport this morning from Dubai by a flight CX684 and was proceeding towards the exit gate.
The AIU sleuths got suspicious and intercepted him. During the search of his belongings, they recovered 204 pieces of assorted gold chains, collectively weighing 1,014 gm and valued at Rs 10,76,947 in the international market.
He had kept the valuables in two bundles concealed in two anklets worn on each of his legs.
Mr Nunwal said, ''we have recorded his statement under section 108 of the Customs Act 1962 and further investigation is on.'' UNI ST SSS SW HS1539
