Puducherry, Nov 26: All the courts in Puducherry will start functioning in the new court complex from November 29, Chief Judge D Krishna Raja has said.
Talking to newspersons here last evening, he said 11 civil and three criminal courts would be shifted to the new premises, which was inaugurated on July 29 last year.
The criminal courts would be shifted first. Except the Legal Aid Authority, all the courts would start functioning in the new premises from November 29, he said adding that the utility block would house a bank, advocates association and parking facility.
The construction of the utility block to be taken up in the second phase was expected to be completed within three years.
A video conferencing cell, similar like the one in Tamil Nadu, would be started, he said and added that the old court building was likely to be maintained as a heritage monument.
