3 out of 4 women now deny rape by SSB sleuths
Shrawasti/Lucknow, Nov 26 (UNI) Three out of the four women, who had been allegedly raped by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) sleuths on Monday night have now denied their molestation.
Only a 22-year-old woman has accepted before the police that she was criminally assaulted and agreed for the medical examination, said Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (crime, law and order) Brij Lal here today.
The UP government has, meanwhile, asked the SSB unit deputed under Mallipur police station on the Indo-Nepal border to be shifted to any other place.
Earlier, an FIR was lodged against seven SSB jawans for raping four women of minority community in Fatehpurbangai village by one Mohammad Hamid alias Munna.
''But during the police investigation, three denied being raped, while the fourth woman did not agree with the others,'' said Mr Lal.
As the case was bit confusing, the police have decided to record the statement of all the four women under section 164 of the IPC before a Magistrate, he said.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party (SP) blamed the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government of the state for neglecting the growing atrocities against women.
State SP working president Shivpal Singh Yadav told mediapersons here that the government has failed to protest for the life and honour of the women. ''The rapes in the present regime have increased, while the guilty are being given patronage by the government,'' he further alleged.
