Bhopal, Nov 26(UNI) As many as 262 companies of security personnel, including 150 companies from outside Madhya Pradesh, have been deployed to ensure peaceful polling in the state tomorrow in all 230 assembly constituencies.
A total of 150 companies of Central Reserve Police Force and forces from Punjab, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal and Tripura have been made available by the union government, besides 100 companies of the state's Special Armed Force, official sources said, adding Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan also expressed satisfaction over the poll arrangements.
Personnel of Forest and Excise departments, Home Guards and Kotwars have also been deployed. Nearly 23,000 Home Guards from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Bihar and Chhattisgarh have been deployed.
Probationery Sub-Inspectors and Deputy Superintendents from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh were also put on election duty, the sources said.
About 3.26 lakh anti-social elements and habitual offenders have been made to fill up bonds, 3887 illicit arms seized and 2,17,214 licenced weapons got deposited in police stations.
Of the total 47,209 booths, each of 12,500 sensitive booths will have two policemen in uniform and a special police officer, while in ordinary booths one policeman in uniform and one SPO each will be posted.
