Panjab, Delhi, KU, Punjabi University qualify

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (UNI) Hosts Panjab University recorded a fluent 57-23 victory over Dr B R Ambedkar University of Agra, in a quarter-final match of the North Zone Inter-university Basketball (men) Championship here today.

With this win, the hosts qualified for the league at the Panjab University Campus courts. They next meet Delhi University tomorrow.

Wasim (13) and Gurbaz Singh (10) were the main achitects of Panjab Varsity's win. For Dr BR Ambedkar University, Geetam contributed15 points.

In another well contested quarterfinal match, Punjabi University of Patiala edged Maharishi Dayanand University of Rohtak by 78-75.

For Punjabi University, Ramanpreet topscored 25 points. Rupinder (19) and Jagwinder (6) were the winners' other main scorers. For MDU Sandeep waged a spirited battle to score 29 points while Narinder secured 17 points.

Delhi University prevailed over Guru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar by 89-69 points. Raul netted 24 points for the winners.

Gurvinder and Pravin were other scorers with 20 points and 17 points respectively. For the Amritsar University, Mandeep made with 26 points.

In the fourth quarter-final encounter, Kurukshetra University carried too many guns against Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi whom they routed by 56-7.

League gixtures: Nov 26: PU vs DU at 2.30 p.m and Punjabi University vs Kurukshetra University at 4 p.m. Nov 27: DU vs KU at 2.30 p.m and PU vs Punjabi University at 4 p.m.

Nov 28: DU vs Punjabi University at 2.30 p.m and PU vs KU at 4 p.m.
