It is a national award for Social Justice and Citizen Action. The award, instituted in 2006 by iCONGO -- Indian Confderation of NGOs -- was commissioned to recognise individuals who have been pivotal in leading the process of change that goes beyond their usual purview. The list of awardees also include 11-year-old Aradhna Chhachhi, a student of DPS sector 45, Gurgaon, who will be felicitated for her dedication to the cause of poor children. Aradhna has, since the age of eight, been raising money for underprivileged children by selling lemonade and sandwiches and making greeting cards, a statement said.
Reacting to the announcement of the honur, Kajol said,'' I believe that social commitment is as important as our professional and personal commitment. It is indeed an honour to have been selected for this award. I will keep doing my bit and giving back to society the best in my capacity.''
