HC reserves verdict on bail application of BMW accused Utsav Bhasin
New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Utsav Bhasin, a Haryana based industrialist's teenaged son, who is in custody for mowing down a motorcyclist and injuring other with his BMW car.
Justice Veena Birbal, after hearing the argument from the prosecution side and the defence, reserved her order.
Senior lawyer Arun Jaitley, who appeared for Utsav, contended that according to the CFSL report, there was no alcohol found in Utsav's blood sample. ''There is no evidence against him to suggest that he dragged the accident victims by his car. He was driving at a speed of 70 kph, which is quite normal,'' Mr Jaitley said.
Seeking bail for Utsav, Mr Jaitley said a chargesheet has already been filed against Utsav, so if bail would be granted to him, it would enable him to join the investigation and the court proceedings.
Prosecution lawyer Navin Sharma said according to the eyewitness and another victim of the accident Mrigank, who survived the accident, Utsav was driving rashly and had even dragged the victims with his car for sometime. ''After the accident, he came out of his car and fled without taking care of the victims,'' he added.
