Civilians facing hardships due to security forces: ANC
Srinagar, Nov 25 (UNI) The Awami National Conference (ANC), taking part in elections for the first time after 1987, today said the inhabitants of Baramulla town and its joining areas have been virtually put under house arrest for the last few days.
In a statement here this evening the senior Vice President of ANC Muzaffar Shah termed it very unfortunate that unwanted and unbridled forces in excess had been applied on the unarmed peace-loving civilians, who were facing severe hardships.
He also condemned the recent killings of two youths at Baramulla and demanded action under criminal law against the guilty security personnel.
Mr Shah further expressed his grief over the hollow assurances made by the Governor Administration and the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, about the smooth, free and fair conduct of the polls.
