Panaji, Nov 25 (UNI) Expressing disappointment over the misappropriation of creativity, Joy Bimal Roy, legendary Bimal Roy's son, today said it was unfortunate that clippings from his father's classics were being used by many without any acknowledgement.
The issue had been taken up with the authorities and hope that something would be done, he told reporters here.
Stating that there could never be another Bimal Roy, he said that it was the main reason why right to remake his films were not given yet. "Bimal Roy is Bimal Roy," he said.
The International Film Festival of India 2008 has dedicated a special Centenary Tributes section to pay tributes to the legend Bimal Roy. Bandini, Devdas, Do Bigha Zamin, Gautam The Buddha and Udayer Pathey are the films that would be shown in his retrospectives.
On Bimal Roy's films, Ratnottama Sengupta, the curator of Bimal Roy retrospective said that most of the films dealt with issues which were still relevant now. The woman characters were so strong and independent, which has uniqueness, Roy said. Bimal Roy was such a legend that he had influenced many directors, he added.
