Amritsar coldest in plains at 6.2 degrees C

Chandigarh, Nov 24 (UNI) Night temperatures across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh dipped marginally and remained 1 to 4 degrees below normal.

Amritsar at 6.2 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, was the coldest place in the North West plains. At Ludhiana, the minimum temperature dropped by two points and settled at 8.6 degrees, against yesterday's 10.3 degrees.

Halwara air base near Ludhiana, recorded 7.4 degrees, while Patiala experienced cold weather at 7.4 degrees, two degrees below normal, against yesterday's 10.4 degrees. Bathinda witnessed the cold weather at 8.4 degrees and Pathankot registered 8.4 degrees.

However, the night temperature at Adampur near Jalandhar increased to 6.6 degrees against yesterday's 4.2 degrees.

The minimum at Chandigarh, where the sky remained overcast, was 8.4 degrees one degree below normal.

The minimum temperature at Narnaul, the coldest place in Haryana was four degrees below normal and settled at 6.2 degrees.

In Ambala, the night temperature dipped by two degrees and experienced cold weather at 7.5 degrees three degrees below normal.

Karnal recorded 8.0 degrees three degrees below normal, against yesterday's 10 degrees.

The minimum at Rohtak was 7 degrees three degrees below normal, while Hisar recorded 10.5 degrees, one degree below normal, and Bhiwani was cold at 8.6 degrees.

In the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, Kalpa in the tribal district of Kinnaur was cold at minus 1 degrees.

Bhuntur in Kullu district experienced a cold night at 3.9 degrees, while in Una, there was a marginal increase in the temperature, it recored 4.6 degrees, against yesterday's 2.8 degrees and the tourist resort of Manali registered 2.6 degrees, two degrees below normal.

The night temperature at the capital town of Shimla was 10.6 degrees, five degrees above normal.

In Mandi, the residents got some respite from yesterday's chilly night, as the minimum was 5.6 degrees, against yesterday's 3.4 degrees, Dharamshala recorded 9.3 degrees.

The Met office has forcast light snowfall or rain in Himachal and cloudy weather will prevail in parts of Punjab and Haryana.
