Vizag to host state Sub-Jr-Championship

Visakhapatnam, Nov 24 (UNI) The Visakhapatnam District Amateur Boxing Association Secretary G V Ravi Raju today said the 24th State Sub-Junior Boxing Championship wil be held at the Railway Stadium here from November 27 to 30.

Addressing a press conference today, he said this year's championship was being organised in memory of veteran boxer and coach K Rama Rao, popularly known as ''Railway Boxer Rama Rao'', who had coached many young boxers and helped them to get employment in railways.

Raju further said more than 250 boxers would be participating the championship.

He pointed out that the city had lot of talent in boxing.

V Santhosh Kumar and V Durga Rao, who won gold and bronze medals, respectively in the recently-held Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune and N Usha, the Asian Women's Championship gold medlist were the latest examples of the wealth of boxing talent in the city, he added.
