Two police jawans killed in naxal-triggered explosion
Jagdalpur, Nov 24 (UNI) Two police jawans were today killed and one injured in a landmine blast triggered by naxals during repolling near Imilpadar village in Bastar district, police said.
Repolling was today conducted at 33 polling centres across seven assembly segments in five districts -- Dantewara, Bijapur, Bastar, Narayanpur and Kanker districts -- where polling was disrupted by naxals and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) looted during polling on November 14.
A polling party was returning after conducting repoll at Harrakodel polling centre under Chitrakot assembly segment in Bastar district when the blast occurred near Imlipadar village.
Of the three jawans, who were injured during the incident, two succumbed while on their way to hospital.
Meanwhile, naxals had attacked a polling centre under Konta assembly segment in Dantewara district after repolling completed but police foiled their attempt. No one was injured during the incident.
Fifty-five per cent polling was reported at six polling centres in Dantewara assembly segment, 60 per cent at seven polling centres in Konta segment, 25 per cent at one polling centre in Bijapur segment, 40 per cent at three polling centres in Chitrakot in Bastar district, 42 per cent at seven polling centres in Narayanpur segment, 46 per cent at seven polling centres in Atagarh segment in Kanker district and 52 per cent at two polling centres in Bhanupratapur segment.
