Chennai, Nov 24 (UNI) Chairman of Selection Committee Krishnamachari Srikkanth today said ''Team India'' was poised to scale greater heights in future engagements, building on its ''superb performance'' in the home series against Australia and the ongoing ODI series against England.
Talking to newspersons after launching the fan club ''Kings Club'' of his home team ''Chennai Super Kings'', avowedly the most popular team in the Indian Premier League(IPL), here, the former India captain said the team has been peforming superbly because of splendid start being given by opener Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag in ODIs as well as Test matches, bringing pressure on the rival team straightaway.
Srikkanth first appealed to the media to pose only questions relating to the development of the game and the performance of the team vis-a- vis contentious issue relating to Dhoni's alleged displeasure over R P Singh's ommission.
He also lauded the performance of the medium pacers, south paw Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma as being another crucial factor for the team's success. ''Zaheer and Ishant Sharma especially the latter have been giving us a great start too taking key wickets early.
''This has been making things easy for the spinners to followup later'', the former dashing opener said.
Another laudable aspect about the team is its''positive approach'', Mahendra Singh Dhoni's excellent leadership and every member contributing 100 per cent.
Srikkanth said a lot of youngsters were also coming into the team as right replacements after some seniors like former captains Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble retired.
