Chandigarh, Nov 24 (UNI) Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Raghuvir Singh Kadian today said that the present the state Government has, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, set benchmarks in the field of education by following the path shown by Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram.
Dr Kadian was delivering inaugural address on the memoir lecture on the occasin of birth anniversary of Sir Chhotu Ram in the Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Science and Technology University in Sonepat today.
Dr Kadian said that the setting up of Bhagat Phool Singh Women University was also one of those efforts which had been inspired from the life and deeds of Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram. During the last four years, more than 250 technical institutions had been established in the State and the number of seats in the technical institutions has been raised upto 81,000.
He said that Ch Chhotu Ram believed that one of the reasons of backwardness in India was the lack of education. Therefore, he made it his objective to ensure that those living in rural areas get education and he opened several educational institutions and also financially helped the poor students.
Dr Kadian said that Ch Chhotu Ram emerged as a messiah when the condition of the poor peasantry in India was very pathetic. He played a vital role in the enactment of various laws which provided relief to the poor peasants from the clutches of money lenders.
