Bhind (M.P.), Nov 24 : India's two biggest political parties, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday continued lashing at each other as they campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Addressing a public rally in Bhind District in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Sonia Gandhi slammed the BJP, the state incumbent, for its failure of fulfilling their promises as asking for an account from the ruling Congress party.

"They don't have an issue to take on us and that's why they are asking us for an account as to what we have done for the past five years. I can give them an account of what we have done not just for five years but for 50 years even before our country got independence," Gandhi told a gathering today.

All 230 Assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh will vote on November 27.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh, five other states -Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir are going to polls in November-December.

Meanwhile, BJP demanded a narco test of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) for its contradictory revelations on the Malegaon blast indirectly accusing the Congress party.

The ATS has detained Sadhvi Pragya Singh, Dayanand Pandey and Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit in connection with the blast in Malegaon, which killed four people.

"The ATS is giving us contradictory reports. Sometimes they say money was given against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and sometimes they say it was for the Muslims. A narco test of the ATS should be done to find out who is working behind them," Vijay Kumar Malhotra, senior BJP leader.

India is in the midst of State elections in five states, including Jammu and Kashmir, which see the two major political parties the Congress and the BJP pitted against each other in most of the states.

Polls in New Delhi are slated on November 29.

These elections are expected to be a run down to the forthcoming general elections in early 2009 that would test the political temperature in the country.
