NPCC charges DAN with misuse of funds
Kohima, Nov 24 (UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has come down heavily on the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), accusing it of misuse of funds provided by the UPA government.
A press release of the party issued here today alleged of rampant corruption in the funds amounting to crores of rupees for Nagaland.
It said, the DAN government misused the funds for its own benefits and continued the usual habit of raising ''infamous slogans'' against the UPA government.
''Prime Minister Manmohan Singh maintains equilibrium in his dealings with all the states and sufficient funds were allocated to the Nagaland Peoples Front-led DAN government but it failed to work for the people as the funds were not reaching the grass root level.'' Reacting to the allegation of the Nagaland unit of the BJP that the NPCC is stalling the flow of funds meant for the development of Nagaland, Paphino said that the BJP, a partner of the DAN government is equally responsible for the misuse of the funds provided by the ''generous'' UPA government at the Centre.
It is also diametrically opposite to the call for unity, reconciliation and solution to the Naga political problem, he said, adding the party has an approach of keeping some section of people close and alienating others, thereby creating a division within the family and standing as a sole impediment towards the solution of the elusive Naga political problem.
