Mumbai, Nov 24 (UNI) In the backdrop of lay-offs and salary cuts in global crisis-hit aviation industry, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray today launched 'Hawai Karmchari Sena' (HKS), a union for airlines workers.
HKS was launched at Shanmukhanand hall here, a party release said.
According to the release, Raj told his workers that the union would fight for the cause of workers in all airline companies.
Nitin Sardesai was elected as president of the body, while other office bearers inculded Nitin Jadhav (general secretary), Gajanan Rane (vice president), Vilas Chavan (secretary) and Murlidhar (treasurer), announced Mr Thackeray.
It may be recalled some employees of Jet Airways had approached Mr Thackeray, when the company retrenched 800 employees recently, before reinstating them.
