Chennai, Nov 24 (UNI) Maharashtra were 77 for two at close on the truncated third day match against Saurashtra in the Elite Group A league of the Cooch Behar Under-19 cricket tournament here today.
After play in the first two days was washedout due to rain, Maharashtra put into bat first, recovered after losing two early wickets for six runs.
When play began at 1515 hrs, Maharashtra were rocked by left-arm medium pacer J D Unad Kad, who removed both the openers Visahant More (16) and Swapnil Gugale (15) in the seventh and ninth overs.
But Sunil Yadav (25 batting, 51 balls, 1x4) and Udit Birla (14 batting) added 40 runs in an unfinished stand for the third wicket, before bad light brought a halt to the proceedings, after 105 minutes of action on the third day.
However, the third day's play between Tamil Nadu and Baroda was also washed out due to overnight rains.
Tomorrow is the final day and after two days of break, the second set of league matches would be held.
Uttar Pradesh is the fifth team in the fray and all the five teams will play each other in the league format. The tournament continues till third week of December.
