Hyderabad, Nov 23 (UNI) Skipper V V S Laxman, with a classic unbeaten 93, steered Hyderabad on the driver seat with 273 for three on day one against Rajasthan in the Ranji trophy super league match here today.
Supported by a 135-run third wicket partnership with S Anoop Pai, Laxman showed his class during his 154-ball innings thumping 10 boundries during 213 munites stay so far.
Laxman remaind the mainstay of the innings to take on the Rajasthan bowling which lacked bite and power. Anoop merrily put on 85 in his 212 balls inning hitting seven fours during his 264 munites stay in the middle.
Hyderabd, after winning the toss, opted to bat first but saw Ravi Teja who scored a centuary in the last Ranji match out at 49. Ravi Teja fell after 32-ball encounter with five boundries before he was bowled by S Mathur playing across.
Suman, the other opener, completed his 50 and was out soon after playing 100 balls which included eight boundries. After host Hyderabad was two down for 106-Skipper Laxman joined Anoop Pai and both put Hyderbad in a comfortable position.
At the end of the day, Laxamn was seven short of his century with Arjun Yadav at the other end played 36 balls for his unbeaten six.
Rajasthans six bowlers, including Skipper Y Venugopal Rao, struggled gainst the Hyderabad onslaught. Pankaj Mather and Gagender Singh got a wicket each.
