Bangalore, Nov 24 (UNI) Distinguished Scientist and Chief Controller R and D (DRDO) Prahlada today strongly recommended to include 'Quality and Reliability' as one of the 'subjects' to include in the framework of engineering syllabus for teaching across the country.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Third National Conference on Quality and Reliability in Aerospace Technologies organised jointly by DRDO and Society for Aerospace Quality and Reliability here today, Dr Prahlada said quality and Reliability had come into every field and Aerospace Technology was leading the entire quality movement.
Stating that India have achieved the best in attaining quality and reliability in almost all its critical Technology missions, Dr Prahlada said, ''We are one of the world's best in quality performance if one takes into consideration of India's last ten year's profile''.
''Take any missile programmes whether it is short range or long range, Agni class, Satellite Launch Vehicles or Chandrayan-I, number of failures, mishappenings have been one of the lowest in the record list, thanks to all those scientists and technocrats who have contributed their might to quality record'' he said.
Stating that despite being important, the core subject Quality and Reliability is not being taught in Engineering Colleges across the country, Dr Prahlada said the concerned authorities including AICTE and UGC should recognise this and take initiative for correction.
Regretting that normally quality engineers and scientists are being neglected, Dr Prahlada said their importance would be felt only when any technical missions fail or starts to trouble.
''Many people expressed surprise over India for having reached the final goal in many missile programmes with the minimum number of attempts and failures''.
Referring to Chandrayaan-I, Dr Prahlada said the very first Moon mission was successful thanks to our Quality Engineers who worked in tandem with other scientists and engineers. ''That is the strength of our quality Engineers'' he added.
