Ongole, AP, Nov 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today claimed that every family in the state was benefitted by the welfare schemes and development projects taken up by his government.
Dedicating the Rs 590 crore Gundlakamma Reservoir Project to the state, he said the ruling Congress alone could dream of taking up irrigaton projects in a big way and complete them swiftly.
It was unfortunate that the opposition parties in the state had moved court to stall major irrigation projects like Pulichintla and Polavaram, he felt.
Justifying the delay in implementing irrigation projects, he said when a film took over an year to complete, it was only natural that an irrigation project took three to five years to complete.
He also ridiculed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu for ''promising everything to the people.'' The project, a Joint Venture of Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCC) and Maytas, was completed before the expected date of December 31, 2008, he added.
