BJP promises to scrap BRT corridor project in Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) The BJP today said it would scrap the controversial BRT Corridor project in the Capital, if voted to power as it has been found impractical and caused the death of several people.
Addressing the media, party chief ministerial candidate V K Malhotra said the BRT corridor was undertaken without much research and proper perspective, leading to the death of several people ever since its inception.
''As soon the BJP comes to power in Delhi, it would get this project totally scrapped and replace it with a viable, positive and genuine mode of transport that caters to the real needs of the people,'' he underlined.
Stressing that his party was committed to getting Delhi the best transportation system before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Mr Malhotra said a multi-mode system of transport was the need of the hour in tune with the worldview and modern outlook.
''While strenghtening the Metro network and city bus service fleet, the BJP would also give a sound look at the elevated transport system to remove congestion from the roads and make the Capital a safer place,'' he added.
On the wild and grotesque allegations being dished out by the Maharashtra Police's Anti-Terrorisn Squad, Mr Malhotra said narco test of ATS officials need to be done to get to the truth behind such fantastic stories coming in the media.
The real aim is to make the ATS a redundant factor like that of the CBI whose credibility has been lost beyond redemption under the present rule, the senior BJP leader noted.
