New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a Rs 240 crore contract from a Tata Power company in Gujarat.

The contract has been placed on BHEL by Coastal Gujarat Power Limited for their upcoming 4,000 MW (5x800 MW) Utra Mega Ppower Project (UMPP) at Mundra, a BHEL spokesman told UNI today.

It's the largest-ever contract for the manufacture and supply of power transformers and busducts.

The order for 40 transformers with a cumulative capacity of 5,872 MVA includes five sets of India's highest rating 930 MVA, three phase transformer banks.

The order for busducts is also the first order in the country for 800 MW thermal sets.

While the generator transformers for the first unit will have to be delivered by February 2010, supplies for the fifth unit will be completed by June 2011, the spokesman said.
